An excellent draw against Abingdon.

Overcast & damp conditions in Abingdon welcomed Moulsford for a timed game over 5 hours.

Abingdon batted first on a excellent batting wicket, Moulsford opening bowlers Goss & Ralphs shared the first twenty overs, Ralphs finishing with excellent figures of 3/41, and Goss bowling a tight 1/33 from 10 overs. A series of bowling changes followed with the Abingdon middle order playing aggressively with their no 4 scoring a swashbuckling unbeaten 87, however Rohan took 2 crucial wickets to slow the run rate. A fine fielding display from Moulsford including a superb diving catch at gulley from Duncan Stobie ensured Abingdon finished with 201 for 7 from their 2 ½ hours at the crease.

Moulsford’s reply stuttered somewhat against a young, high quality Abingdon bowling attack, but a fine quick fire 22 from opener Jonny Stephens set the run chase on its way. After some 15 overs Rohan and Jacob Swain came to the crease to produce what was not only a match saving partnership, but so nearly a match winning one, Rohan hitting an aggressive 76 and Jacob an impressive unbeaten 56. Rohan finally being caught on the boundary pushing hard for the victory with 3 overs to go. Moulsford finished on 196 for 5.

An excellent game resulted in Moulsford falling just 6 runs short of an impressive win, but a draw was a superb result against a very strong Abingdon side.
