A lovely Easter Sunday saw Moulsford toil against a powerful Purley side.

Moulsford fielded first in a 40 over per side match. Despite good captaincy by Ben Ralphs and an excellent rotation of bowlers (nine were used in all), there was to be no reward and Purley posted a challenging 253-1.

Fielding under hot conditions all bowlers strived hard with the pick being Rohan Iswariah 0-20 in 6 overs and Lawrence Littledale 0-11 in 2 overs. Paul Gilmore turned his arm for 0-19 in 3 overs. Purley gave virtually no chances and there were no missed catches. Their top opener scored 131 N.O.

In reply Moulsford managed 145 all out in 36 overs. After losing the first three batsmen cheaply there was a middle order rally led by Rohan (45) and Ben Ralphs (26) who put on a good stand of over 70. Moulsford’s tail wagged briefly with a solid 25 from Duncan Stobie and Lawrence Littledale (10- run out).

• Seeing Will Perry back to receive his 2010 all rounder’s trophy.
• Steve Pearce turning out for his debut match and hitting a fine drive for 4.
